Climate Resolve is seeking a motivated, personable, inquisitive, and detail-oriented individual, with a commitment to equitable solutions to climate change, to join the team as a full-time Development & Communications Coordinator (DCC). The DCC reports to and supports the Development & Communications Director (DCD) in administrative, communications, and fundraising activities, including campaigns and events.

 Responsibilities

Development

  • Assists the DCD in executing the fundraising cycle, including identifying, cultivating, qualifying, soliciting, and stewarding individual and institutional donors.
  • Supports the DCD to maintain updated and useful information in the CRM and timely and effective follow-up with donors, including tracking gift conversations, solicitation and stewardship strategies, and preparing follow-up steps and action items.
  • Collaborates with the DCD to organize and run recurring meetings for internal colleagues, helping move strategic and collaborative projects forward.
  • Achieves proficiency using the donor database to track prospects, record and acknowledge activities, produce reports, and enter all information accurately and timely.
  • Provides excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders, including communications on gift logistics and donor stewardship initiatives.
  • Provides effective event planning and administrative support for public giving opportunities, including the organization’s annual Coolest in LA gala and smaller special events.
  • Builds meaningful relationships with stakeholders, including donors, partners, and emerging environmental justice supporters.

Communications

  • Assists the DCD in implementation of a communications strategy with individuals, foundations, and other funders, including face-to-face, phone, and email interactions.
  • Assists in the creation and distribution of printed and digital development-related materials, including campaign communications, proposals, social media assets, event invitations, and newsletter content.
  • Learns to develop compelling narratives to explain our mission and theory of change and build the case for support.
  • Collaborates with the DCD and Communications team to develop photo and video assets that support fundraising goals and engage donors.
  • Function as an intermediary on behalf of the organization, embodying and communicating the mission, vision, and culture of Climate Resolve with external partners and at outreach events.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative and organizational support.
  • Actively engages with staff in meetings and during Climate Resolve activities.
  • Provides other job-related duties as required.

Qualifications

The Development Coordinator will be thoroughly committed to Climate Resolve’s mission. Candidates should have fundamental communications and development knowledge or experience, understanding that they will be trained and mentored to deliver on the responsibilities listed above.

Required

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience. We welcome and will consider any combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • 1 to 2 years of work experience in fundraising, event planning, constituent engagement, communications, or project management.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office and Google Workspace.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work competently and efficiently in a multi-task environment.
  • Mission-driven, solutions-focused, and strongly motivated to continue learning and improving.
  • Robust oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends.
  • Willingness and ability to attend offsite meetings.
  • Positive attitude, curiosity, and flexibility – and a sense of humor!

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Comfortable conducting community outreach online and in person with diverse donors.
  • Ability to accurately proofread and edit correspondence.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an excellent phone manner and amicable presentation.
  • Ability to work under pressure, understand and follow policies and procedures, and accommodate change.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively on a team.
  • Comfort speaking in group settings with ease.

Preferred

  • Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities, including communities of color, into the impacts and outcomes of project management.
  • Knowledge of fundraising and communication best practices.
  • Experience with event planning and direct fundraising.
  • Experience interacting with executives and senior-level staff.
  • Experience researching, booking, and creating outreach opportunities.
  • Working knowledge of project management tools and CRMs (preferably NeonOne).
  • Working knowledge of WordPress, Klaviyo, Canva, and Asana (or another project management software).
  • Light design experience creating visual media or experience coordinating with design professionals to facilitate its development.
  • Understanding of the fundamental science of climate change and subsequent impacts such as extreme heat, drought, and others relevant to the Los Angeles region.
