Decarbonizing California: 2020-2050 will examine the Golden State’s exciting efforts to meet important climate targets while simultaneously improving quality of life and generating economic growth.
WHEN: Monday, November 17, 2014, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
WHERE: USC’s Davidson Center, 3415 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles 90089
WHO: Decarbonizing California: 2020-2050 is co-hosted by Climate Resolve—Los Angeles’ foremost nonprofit dedicated to creating real, practical solutions to meet the climate challenge while creating a better city for Angelenos—along with the USC Marshall School of Business and the Schwarzenegger Institute. The conference is also sponsored by California’s leading environmental organizations, including the American Lung Association, Sierra Club, NRDC, Environmental Defense Fund, The Nature Conservancy, California League of Conservation Voters, LAANE, Los Angeles Regional Collaborative for Climate Action, CleanTech San Diego, Physicians Scientists & Engineers for Healthy Energy, Climate Action Reserve, SCOPE, TreePeople, and Communities for a Better Environment.
WHY: California’s landmark climate law, AB 32, was designed to reduce our state’s contributions to climate change. And it may be working, and a model for the nation. At the Decarbonizing California conference, the state’s leading voices on climate change will examine if our state can meet 2050 targets while simultaneously improving lives and growing the economy. “We will explore how Californians are able and willing to stand up to this climate challenge, and how our state is meeting important climate targets while simultaneously improving our quality of life and generating economic growth,” says Jonathan Parfrey, Executive Director of Climate Resolve.
MORE: Conference admission is free and lunch will be served.
