Katia was born and raised in Los Angeles and currently serves as a Community Engagement & Outreach Fellow with Climate Resolve. She is a U.S. Army veteran and brings a diverse background with a strong interest in public health, sustainability, and community-centered environmental work.
With a Master of Public Health from the University of Southern California, Katia has developed a strong interest in understanding health through a broader environmental lens. She is especially interested in One Health, an approach that recognizes the interconnected health of people, animals, and the environment, and hopes to continue exploring how these connections can inform healthier and more sustainable communities.
Her interests include environmental science, climate resilience, sustainability, and environmental justice, particularly how environmental conditions can disproportionately affect underserved communities. Having grown up in Los Angeles, Katia is especially passionate about supporting local communities and addressing issues that influence health and quality of life, including extreme heat, air quality, access to green space, and the built environment.
Through her work with Climate Resolve, Katia hopes to strengthen community engagement, help make climate and environmental information more accessible, and contribute to equitable solutions that support healthier and more resilient communities throughout Los Angeles.
