Vote Yes on A: The Climate Case

Climate Resolve firmly supports Measure A on the November 8 ballot in Los Angeles.
Here’s why. Measure A — the Los Angeles County Safe, Clean Neighborhood Parks and Beaches Measure of 2016 — is not only good for parks, but offers real climate solutions.
The measure explicitly prioritizes parks that reduce the urban heat island effect, especially in “heavily urbanized, tree-poor areas.” New parks will be built to also capture precious rainwater and will be engineered to blunt the effects of flooding waters when L.A. gets doused by Pineapple Express mega-rains.
Trees and healthy soil also capture carbon, the main pollutant contributing to climate change.
Although a single tree doesn’t capture much carbon, every little bit helps. And isn’t that the way climate solutions work? Little by little, fifteen billions hands working together?
And check out this bottom line: the measure’s property fee is ludicrously conservative. It’s a mere $23/year for a 1500-square foot house.
Yes on A.
