California Leadership on Climate Continues: SB 32 Passes the Assembly
Posted by David Fink on August 23, 2016
Today the California State Assembly banded together with their colleagues in the Senate to solidify California’s standing as a world leader in the fight against climate change by passing SB 32, an extension of the California Global Warming Solutions Act, AB 32.
Leading up to the vote, much of the debate rightfully centered around equity and ensuring disadvantaged communities, low-income residents, and neighborhoods disproportionately impacted by climate change receive the most assistance. The vote today was proof that climate leadership is as strong as ever in California — and that Californians from across the state can work together on tough issues and support policies that drive us toward solutions to benefit everyone. Already we have seen that climate actions are making a difference in California. With today’s vote, we continue our commitment to support healthy communities, a robust economy, and a thriving planet.
