Our 2016 Gala: Coolest in LA

Posted by in #Connecting with Others on March 16, 2016

How cool was our annual fundraiser on March 10 at the Teragram Ballroom? We celebrated five cool local projects for reducing greenhouse gases and presented an award to Los Angeles County Supervisor Sheila J. Kuehl as the “Coolest Politician in Los Angeles” for her tremendous activism and leadership.

Val Zavala of KCET led a panel discussion about five breakthrough climate projects:

  • Newlight Technologies for turning greenhouse gases into everyday products
  • Natural History Museum’s Nature Gardens for showing how climate resilient landscaping can be beautiful
  • First Element Fuel for making hydrogen more accessible across the Southland
  • Cargomatic for reducing emissions at the ports by connecting shippers with carriers
  • Century Villages at Cabrillo for creating green affordable housing along transit lines

More on those projects from our video below (and more photos from the event here).
